Students’ Attitude to Studies

Students often question particular subjects they have studied at school. On the one hand, this seems to be wrong, but this issue has many sides.

Which Attitude Should Students Have to Studies?

Students should be skeptical about something they study. All of them should ask questions about something they are learning and not just believe everything they are taught. They should question what they are taught instead of accepting it passively. We can understand skepticism in two different ways. If you are skeptical of something, it is beneficial, but at the same time, if someone shows skepticism to your own personality, most of the people hate it. That is another reason why skepticism is good and bad at the same time. Take a look at the following info I once found out while in need to write essay for me.

Students’ Attitude to Studies

Why Is It Important?

For students, it is important to learn to be skeptical when it comes to studies for multiple reasons. One of them is because this can help to build up critical thinking and develop your own position when it comes to the daily life. If the student does not have his or her own opinion on the question at school, there is a little chance that in the daily life he or she will not do the same.

Adults are never skeptical. Adults have a great experience, they can remain skeptical sometimes, but skepticism is replaced with the wisdom. Only young people should learn how to be skeptical to what people say to them, to what is done for them or in relations with others.

Skepticism Is the Base for Learning New Things

Students should be skeptical to whatever they study. Such attitude could be taught as a method of learning. Let me explain. You are a young girl or a boy. You study so many things at school and you have never been taught to be skeptical to whatever you study. It means that the majority of students blindly believe everything they study. Nevertheless, some of us, who do not understand all the information from our curriculum, are correct. They study it just to have a good mark. For example, history is written by conquerors, which is why this subject is quite one-sided and we probably will never know all the truth.

What Affects Our Studies?

Advertising, mass media and TV persuade us all. By the way, the tools of persuasion include, according to Aristotle, ethos, pathos and logos. But let us come back to skepticism. Skepticism should be taught as a tool to oppose persuasion and believing. It helps in science and those people, who are skeptical to some achievements, become knowable scientists because they are used to double checking a great number of facts. Skepticism can be taught during the life, but it would be better to study it in the early childhood. It is a pity that the method of studying, which includes bringing the skills of skeptical attitude, is used only in western universities, especially in the USA and Canada. However, it can be taught in other countries, too. Students just need to learn that everything they are reading and learning is not always right and they should question it to understand everything better and to discover the truth.
